That would be awesome. Thanks!
Also, in the preset sunrise and sunset modes, the lights keep blinking during the transition, instead of doing it smoothly. Does it happen to you too?

Hello…
I discovered YeeLight by a chance in YouTube. But, they never mentioned that it cannot be used in bed room due to high brightness even with 1%
I’m frustrated to buy Yeelight is my first smart bulbs…!
It is too bright and from what I read in early coents of “white list”

My ID: 6247550248

I hope to receive help real soon otherwise I wasted my money for product that make me wanna throw it out of the window.

Where is the solution or update?

Get philips hue instead

For what it’s worth, I have bought a couple of S1 bulbs and tested if any improvements were made concerning the 1% brightness.
Upgrading the S1 bulb to 2.0.6_0027 gave the following results:

left = V2, right = S1

white
warm

cold

color - doesn’t seem to be that much of a difference

Thanks!

Here is the only way to get a lower brightness:

  1. Turn the light OFF.
  2. Open the phone app and go to customization.
  3. Create a new scene with frame -> color temp frame.
  4. Set brightness to 1% and duration to 1m.
  5. Save this scene and add another customization.
  6. For this one set the customization to repeat forever.
  7. Now add frame -> pause frame and set it to 59m.
  8. With your light still OFF, activate the first scene you created. The light will turn on after a few seconds on the absolute lowest brightness setting.
  9. Now when you are happy with the brightness activate the second customization scene (pause).
  10. You now set the brightness to lower than allowed by the normal app.

There is NO other way to do this. I even activated LAN control and tried to screw around with the API. It could be possible to make an app to automatically glitch the bulb into this state but it would once again be a hack.

Thank you in advance!

thank you very much for your work, @vetmode! I’ve been bothered by this FOREVER! Your process indeed does the job.

I think at first I must not have set the “Execute” correctly after step 3. Oddly, the app doesn’t let you see what you’ve set the “Execute” once you have set it. I think I set the colour temp frame to

Repeat-> Never
Action After Execution-> Keep current state

would that be correct?

Hey there. I haven’t tried this yet, but hopefully Yeelight staff might see this and use it as a way to make their APP do it without the work around. (Yes, yes… I know… it’s not like they are reading this thread any more… one can dream… haha)

It’s not the best solution, but with a linear potentiometer you could dim the voltage going to the lamp, so you would dim the light, but at the same time, some functions could not work as well, imagine, the light works with a range of 110~250 volts, to dim a light you need certain voltage, like a led, if you want the led to be at its maximum brightness you need a 220 ohms resistance and 5 volts, so, if you want it less bright you will need less voltage on the led, but this is with a simple diode, it hasn’t electronic circuits and micro-processors, those could be damaged if operated at a very low voltage, I need you to know that this is a high risk solution, not only for the light but for you too, 220v is a dangerous voltage, if you are going to do it I recommend you to inform yourself with electronics and dimming circuits basics, plus how a potentiometer works and resistance.
Hope I help someone

Thank you in advance!

This works, but after the 1 hour of the pause frame it gets back to brighter
Tried to add more pause frames, set to repeat, etc.

does it work for anyone for more than 1 hour?
