I can’t even describe how dissapointed I am. I had beed developing a smart home IoT system on RPi, I’ve purchased two large Yeelight Ceiling lamps, coupple of strips, and many light bulbs (yeelink.light.color3).
I’ve put really large amount of work into it, only to find that you completely removed the LAN Control feature for those light bulbs, and they now can’t be recognized by my app. Strangely, the Ceiling and Strip still work, how come?
There are nearly 500 replies in this thread alone, and dozens of other threads with hundreds of unsatisfied customers. I’ve already invested a lot of money and time in Yeelight and was also planning to change all of the spotlights in my house to Yeelight spot/down lights, but I haven’t done it since february, when this problem first occured.
I understand Yeelight is just a manufacturer and Xiaomi is deciding, but oh my god, you are selling smart IoT equipment and you just literally took away the IoT functionality. It’s like selling a car and taking out an engine because it might be a security risk.
Why won’t you do just agree with Xiaomi that this is an absolute key feature and it should be added. I am totally OK with LAN control being implicitly disabled upon install, and I am also OK with it being hidden somewhere in the settings (similar to Developer settings in Android phones). But please, make it work. Or, you know, we can post here our Mi IDs for another 10 years and waste our and your time, that’s also an option.
I’ve rated the Yeelight app 1* on Google Play in february and sent 6 various feedbacks from the app - with NO reply whatsoever.
This is probably the worst experience of a product/support in my life.
I officially withdraw my comment regarding Yeelight taking care of their customers. If you think that meeting your customers cry for help with silence will give you happy customers, you are very wrong. And no, this storm will not pass if you do so. Rest assured that your reputation has got a serious dent by your decisions. And Xiaomi should know better for heaven’s sake… go sit in the corner and think of what you’re doing.
what is your current firmware for color3? i saw no updates since 11.2019 fw 2.0.6_0035. maybe they only removed lan mode ui from app, but you can still turn it on via miio cmd.
By the way downgrading Yeelight application Android to 3.0.06 did the trick and I am able to active LAN on my yeelink.light.color3 bulbs…
Hope this will help as After 500 posts in this thread WE still waiting a clear official Yeelight solution.
