yeelight is only manufacturer of xiaomi lamps.
yeelight is not designer of xiaomi lamps.
All proudct features is from xiaomi,
so we can not take the lan control back officially.
So, in this case, It would be better to inform your users in time to prevent your users to be unsatisfied. When you inform your customers correctly before a restriction applies, they can choose their best decision: miss the future updates and hold the 3rd party functionality OR keep updated but lose the 3rd party functionality.
This step is unacceptable, totally opposite of your valuable customers.
No problem, there’s still a good way to take this situation back to good.
You should re-release your last LAN control-enabled firmware to all of your devices (I have Mi Desk Lamp 1s, so whitelisting won’t work for me without the supported fw) alongside informing the customers about “LAN control will be deprecated in 30 days”.
Everyone would be happy.
Please try to get your customer’s trust back.
If I’ll lose my LAN control, I won’t buy any Xiaomi/Yeelight device anymore… And I think, I’m not the only one.
You screwed up your customers, they never forget it.
